In 2024, my husband, our 3-year-old child, and I embarked on a life-changing adventure by moving to Costa Rica. The decision to relocate was fueled by our dissatisfaction with life in America. The food in the USA is heavily processed and contaminated with pesticides. After devouring countless YouTube videos and blogs about the Costa Rican lifestyle, we felt a pull towards this vibrant country.

Over a span of 8 months, we meticulously sold our cars, furniture, and broke our lease to make this dream a reality. We booked our flight and began telling family we were leaving, we took the leap, leaving behind what was familiar to embrace the unknown. Upon landing we received a 180-day visa, we did however have a return date over 30 days.

Straight from the airport, we found ourselves driving 4.5 hours to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. Opting for a hired driver at $200 USD, the journey was not only comfortable with A/C and Wi-Fi but also a delight as we spotted a monkey amidst the lush surroundings between two towering mountains.

The bustling streets filled with people on motorbikes and scooters initially overwhelmed us, ushering in a wave of culture shock. However, the warmth and beauty of the locals quickly eased our concerns.

As vegans, discovering Rio's Vegan Food became a culinary highlight. Not only was the food affordable, but it was also a delectable treat for our taste buds. Currently stationed at Playa Negra, the black sand beach, we find solace in the rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore, a reminder of our newfound paradise.

Our journey to Costa Rica is just beginning, and with each passing day, we are immersed in the beauty, culture, and flavors of this enchanting land. Cheers to new beginnings and the endless possibilities that lie ahead!
